India does not have the best of Political leaders, is known to all. Our dear learned politicians have always suffered from the ‘foot in the mouth’ disease while making statements to the media.

Today, we bring you 5 most bizarre statements made by Indian politicians:

  1. Tarun Vijay – “We are surrounded by black people”

This year BJP’s former Rajya Sabha member made a ridiculous statement in the media while speaking about the racist attacks against Nigerians in Greater Noida.

Tarun Vijay, who was also a part of India-Africa Parliamentary Friendship Group, stated that Indians are not racist as we are surrounded by black-skinned people down south in our own cities such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra. Fair & lovely anyone?

  1. Narendra Modi – “Despite Being a Woman”

Our Prime Minister while praising Bangladesh Prime Minister – Sheikh Hasina – committed the gaffe of saying that he admired Sheikh Hasina’s firm resolve against terrorism, in spite of being a woman! Wow, sexist comments in 2017!

  1. Digvijay Singh – “ Sau Tunch Maal”

Congress-old horse while speaking about colleague – Meenakshi Natrajan – MP from Mandsaur, tried to compliment her by saying she is Sau Tunch Maal which translates to 100% desirable object. Well, flattery in its purest form eh!

  1. Mamta Banerjee – “Rising Population = Rapes”

In 2013, West Bengal Chief Minister – Mamta Banerjee made a ridiculous statement that increasing population is the main responsible factor for rape in India. She also went on to say that boys and girls interacting more freely than before – is contributing to the rising number of rapes.

Wow, a powerful statement indeed on women-empowerment by a woman-leader!

  1. Mohan Bhagwat – “Rapes take place in India, Not Bharat!”

In the year 2013, Mohan Bhagwat – Chief of the RSS – made a startling claim that rapes take place only in India and not Bharat. By this, he meant that rapes do not take place in rural India which still follows Indian culture, and is only an urban phenomenon.

Statistics Mr. Bhagwat, sorry to burst your bubble; Rapes do take place in your Bharat as well, and that too an alarming rate, per day.
