We do indulge in racism; we do have an infatuation towards whiter skin, and yes, we are Indians-belonging to the same country that claims that the seed of this big problem was sown by Britishers. One fine day, Abhay Deol, one of the finest actors that we have in the industry right now, just thought – let’s talk about how fairness cream ads today – the same product that is endorsed by the biggest name in the industry contributing to an already pesky problem of racism. He exposed all the names without any fear and just brought to limelight what is wrong with the nation. And doing that, he ruffled a lot of feathers and ripped his peers to shreds.

And not that he is dark and so he has also been facing a lot of racism since a very long time. The story was rather ironical. The man, in an interview later, said that as a child he was annoyed by the fact that people would pinch his cheeks and say he was adorable because he had white skin. He did not like the way he was being linked to the colour of the skin.

They will be picking up Indian celebrities who are saving the country from various social menaces. He sparked a debate in the industry that surprisingly those in question did not address. The only one who did – Sonam Kapoor – got trolled for her own statement, instead. Now, the actor has got recognition for his fight against racism and has been awarded ‘Valerian of Racism’ by the makers of Valerian and The City of Thousand Planets.
