The controversy surrounding Padmavati just refuses to die. After stalling the release of the movie and threatening Deepika Padukone – the lead actor of the movie – Bollywood has united to stand by in support of Deepika.
Many from the Bollywood industry have come together in a campaign to save Deepika called as – Deepika Bacchao!
As per reports, the campaign has been initiated by industry veteran – Shabana Azmi who has been against Karni Sena who have been protesting the movie right from the beginning. She has in fact also blamed the current BJP Government for keeping mum about the same.
Shabana Azmi along with Jaya Bachchan have decided to spearhead a campaign called – Deepika Bachao – which will involve gathering of signatures from leading Bollywood actresses requesting for Deepika’s safety.
The signature campaign will be then submitted to the Honourable Prime Minister of India seeking his support.
However, reports have now surfaced that Queen – Kangana Ranaut has refused to sign the petition as she is disappointed with the lack of support from industry insiders during her feud with Hrithik Roshan.
She has also hinted that a ‘veteran actress’ who had earlier assassinated her character during the Hrithik-Kangana fiasco. She also expressed her issue with Shabana Azmi’s vies on left-wing versus right-win politics. Hence, Kangana has refused to sign the petition, withdrawing her support from the Deepika Bachchao campaign!
Kangana was quoted as saying, “I was filming ‘Manikarnika’ in Jodhpur when I got a call from dear friend Anushka Sharma to sign the petition written by Ms Shabana Azmi. I explained to her that Deepika Padukone has all my support but I am a bit wary of Shabana Azmi’s investment in left wing Vs right wing politics. I have my own set of ideas and opinions about the current situation in our country. I am on the fence about many things and being a part of a feminist movement called ‘Deepika bachao’ led by someone who character assassinated me when I was bullied by influential men, seems to be one of them. Anushka understood but I am glad they reached out to me, like I said Deepika has all my support I am an individual perfectly capable of supporting who I like without anyone’s support,”
Kangana probably was referring to Shabana’s Twitter post when she retweeted Hrithik’s interview with Arnab Goswami. Farhan Akhtar – Shabana’s step-son had also written an open letter in support of his childhood buddy Hrithik Roshan.
Do you agree with Kangana’s decision to withdraw support from Deepika Bachchao campaign?
