We do have the best of actors and actresses but when it comes to General Knowledge and Intelligent Quotient, Bollywood celebrities certainly seem to be far behind than their western counterparts.

While one young starlet lives under the misconception that Prithviraj Chauhan is the President of India, another senior actress feels that Sikkim is a state troubled by insurgency.

What comes as a surprise is the statement has come from none other than Priyanka Chopra, who represents India on the global stage, through her films, United Nations charity work, and TV series.

In her recent interview at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Priyanka Chopra made a careless comment. While speaking about Pahuna – the region film from Sikkim – produced by her, Priyanka said that Pahuna was a ground-breaking achievement. She went on to further state, ‘This is the first film ever that’s come out of that region, because it’s very troubled with insurgency and troubling situations.’

For this statement, Priyanka was trolled by Twitterati, as Sikkim is one of the most peaceful states of India and Pahuna certainly isn’t the first film to come out of Sikkim.

Priyanka later apologized profusely for her misinformed comments, but the damage had been done. This just goes to highlight the poor GK of our beloved Bollywood stars.

Such an irresponsible, false statement can have a disastrous effect on a tourism-dependent state such as Sikkim.

A few years ago, Priyanka had made another foolish comment about admiring and respecting Mother Teresa and also went on to say that Mother Teresa was the most successful living woman today. (Facepalm)

Bipasha Basu who is rightfully known for her fitness and not her IQ had claimed in one of her interviews, Adolf Hitler had started the Olympics. Now, that is one grave displacement of facts.

One would feel that, at least, veteran Bollywood star and BJP MP – Hema Malini – would make better responsible statements, but alas.

Hema Malini while speaking to the reporters once claimed that ‘Vrindavan Widows have bank balance, good income and nice beds, but they beg out of habit.’

While one doesn’t need to have a good general knowledge to classify as a Bollywood actor or actress; it is however imperative that they should make statements on current affairs and national issues with utmost precaution. Tell us what you feel about these careless statements made by the Bollywood-brigade.
