Every time we claim that India is progressing in almost every field, but the fact is that there is still one field which has not yet improved much, the area is sadly girl’s education. Girls in our country are often discriminated in almost every field. They are less likely to born or less likely to go to gain an education. The birth of a baby girl is still not welcomed in many parts of the nation. In a rare attempt to make people aware to not consider girls as a burden, Bengaluru has decided that first girl child born in the New Year at a government hospital will receive free education till graduation.
In a noble initiative to identify these obstacles and celebrate girl child, the Mayor of Bengaluru R. Sampath Raj has declared that the first girl child born in the New Year through a normal delivery at any government hospital in the city would get free education up to graduation. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will also deposit around Rs 5 lakh in a joint bank account of its Commissioner and the first newborn baby girl. The interest will be utilized later for the girl child’s education.
“Pregnant women who go to civic hospitals for delivery are from poor sections and unluckily think a girl child is a burden for them to bring up”, said the Bengaluru mayor. The officials of Bengaluru hospital will record the birth timings of a baby girl who will be born after December 31 midnight. The baby girl who will be coming to this world first will be declared as the winner in the city. As per the Mayor, “A cesarean-section birth can be induced any time, government doctors have decided to reward only the girl child born through a natural process”.
Indeed, it’s definitely a beautiful way to start the New Year 2018.
