The entire nation has lauded the efforts of Mumbai-based Lawyer Afroz Shah, who, in 85 weeks managed to bring down the level of filth and trash on the Versova beach of Mumbai. Around 5 million Kg of trash was cleared from the Versova beach as a result of the clean-up drive taken up by Mr. Shah and other citizens after joining hands with the BMC. However, the problem has not completely been solved yet.

The image of the clean beach went viral, and Mumbaikars have been delighted to have one more beach accessible to them, again. The beach now is much better and pleasant compared to the absolute mess it was earlier.  But as they say, what goes around, comes back around. Unfortunately, the beach seems like it has been levied with a disease, which it will keep worsening into until complete attention is paid to its hygiene & cleanliness.

Activists and citizens are trying their best to have the beach as clean as possible, but the trash keeps coming back as it seems a bit late to repair the damage that has been done over the last few decades.

The local fishermen say that every weekend, they & a few citizens around come & clean the beach again & wait for the civic officials to come with their trucks & take the trash away. The trash has been coming not from the visitors coming and throwing it there, but from the sea. The first monsoon showers might have hit the city, but there has been a week-long pause before the storms take the city hostage one more time in the season of monsoon.

The extreme winds and the torrential rains affect the waves of the ocean, because of which all the trash that has been collected inside the sea is coming back to the land, thereby polluting the sea all over again.
