India might be considered as a poor country, but India’s Chief Ministers certainly can give the richest in the world a run for their money.

A recent affidavit filed by current Chief Ministers have revealed some shocking results. The report has been released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) that has listed over 25 CMs who are Crorepatis, which accounts to 81 percent in all.

Out of the 25 CMs, two Chief Ministers have assets over Rs. 100 crores. 55 percent of the CMs from the list have assets ranging from Rs 1 – 10 crores.

These affidavits were filed by the Chief Ministers before contesting elections.

Do you know who is the Chief Minster who tops the list?

It is none other than Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu who tops the lost with assets around
Rs. 177 crore. Indeed a staggering amount considering the financial turmoil AP is going through right now. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu is second on the list with assets worth Rs. 129 crore followed by Punjab CM Amarinder Singh on the third spot with declared assets worth Rs. 48 crore.

Surprisingly, J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti was the third poorest CM with assets worth Rs. 56 lakhs followed by West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee with declared assets worth Rs. 30 lakh.

Tripura which is currently in election mode has the poorest CM Of them all. Manik Sarkar has assets worth Rs. 27 lakh.

In addition to the economic assets, the ADR report also gives a low-down on the educational qualification of the Chief Ministers. Around 10 percent of 31 Chief Ministers are 12th pass whereas 32 percent are graduates.

A rather worrying statistics is 26 percent Chief Minsters have declared serious criminal offences against them. These criminal cases include murder, attempt to murder, cheating & dishonestly or criminal intimidation among others.

Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tops the list with 22 cases filed against him.

The ADR report has opened a can of worms which is sure to have a impact on the upcoming 2019 elections.
