Yes, the news is true! Rahul Gandhi has filed nomination papers as the new Congress President today! This will initiate the process for the internal voting for the election of the Congress President within the Congress-party. The internal polling process seems like a big sham considering no one will dare to vote against the Congress Vice-President.

Moreover, Rahul’s mom’s mere presence in the Party is enough to influence votes in her son’s favour.

It is to be seen if anyone within the Congress party files candidature and stands for internal elections against Rahul Gandhi. The final ‘so-called contest’ is expected to be announced on the 11th of December. But in all likelihood, it is obvious that the formality will end soon and Rahul Gandhi will be announced as the new President of the Indian National Congress, after Sonia G.

Will Rahul Gandhi’s elevation turn Congress-fortune for good? Till now, Rahul Gandhi’s stint as vice-President hasn’t worked positively in the favour of the Congress. From consecutive defeats right from 2014 elections to State elections across India, Rahul Gandhi’s campaigning has worked disastrously for the Indian National Congress.

As per few Gandhi-loyalists, Rahul G. will find it challenging to fill the shoes of Sonia Gandhi who on-record has been the longest serving Party President of the Indian National Congress. A General Secretary of the Party remarked that it is important that Rahul Gandhi connects with allies in the coming months.
