A denial of Indian visa has brought life to a halt for a Pakistani woman – Sadia. The Karachi-based woman was planning to marry an Indian national in Lucknow on August 1 but the Indian High Commission rejected the application twice without any explanation. Sadia has now sought help from external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj with a tweet, “Es beti ki help kariye. You are my only hope.” Sadia’s marriage was fixed with Syed in 2012 and the duo continued to speak over the phone, but they never thought that visa denial would become a hindrance.
“I’m suffering a lot. The High Commission rejected my application twice, but no explanation was provided. We’ve been trying to get a visa since the past one year,” said Sadia. Sadia feels the bitter relations between the two countries may be the reason why her family wasn’t granted a visa. Swaraj has more than eight million followers on Twitter and gets hundreds of tweets directly from people seeking her help for passport and visa.
