Hugh Hefner, the founder of Playboy, breathed his last yesterday. The eccentric multi-millionaire raised an empire out of nothing with sheer will-power.

It is known that Hugh Hefner met renowned celebrities, across the world, during his time, from all walks of life.

But did you know, India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had given an interview to the Playboy magazine, back in 1963.

Yes, that’s true. Our very own former-Prime Minister had given an interview to the magazine that was banned in India due to its nude imagery, in its October-1963 issue.

Pandit ji’s interview became the talk of the town and people in India had started smuggling copies of it.
As per reports, the magazine’s edition was sold 30 times more than its original cost.

In this magazine, Nehru had given many controversial statements including one revolving around the need for India to be a nuclear power for its own safety.

The magazines said edition, when it was going in its final stage of printing, received a message from the Indian embassy that such an interview was never conducted. Playboy then was forced to state that the interview with Nehru wasn’t directly conducted, but was a collation of several speeches of Pandit Nehru, compiled by a Journalist.  The said, journalist however was never found.

It would be indeed intriguing to find out the exact details of the interview given by Pandit ji to Hugh Hefner’s Playboy magazine. But one thing is certain, many news stories are bound to come out related to Hefner in the coming days.
