This film is being reviewed because it is the cinematic
depiction of one of the most extraordinary tales of modern times. Once a tea
seller, the man goes on to become the Prime Minister of the largest democracy
in the world. That really has happened! Now twice!
Director Omung Kumar has cleared one thing in a lot of
interviews that he is not a ‘Bhakt’. Neither am I. But I still went on to watch
the film ‘PM Narendra Modi’. I just wanted to know the fuss is all about. A
huge controversy followed the film since its original release date. But was
finally released after the results of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections were out.
As we listen to the minute-long disclaimer before the
feature presentation begins, we know what exactly to expect from the film. It’s
a work of fiction. They have dramatized ‘certain’ events wherever deemed necessary
and frankly I don’t blame anyone for it.
After directing a couple of biopics earlier, we thought
Omung has now gotten the hang of it. But this time his work is a little bit
flawed. Vivek Oberoi has really worked hard to portray the role of PM Narendra
Modi. The casting is decent if not spot on.
Some scenes or events which happen during the film, haven’t in
the reality. You don’t need to be a historian to point that out. But from a neutral
perspective, the film lacks on many fronts. There is a scope to improve in
songs, background score and editing.
This film shows that a common man if given a direction and
guidance is no less than a superhero! I don’t know if PM Modi will watch this
film or not, but anyone who is curious to find out the story behind the man who
is our Prime Minister today, should watch this film.
