How many matches are we going to lose because of our poor batting performances?

The lack of application shown by Indian Batsmen was not acceptable, especially coming from a batting rich country. Determination and patience required to succeed in tests was nowhere to be seen.

Bowlers held our neck high. When India had a best batting line-up in the past in the names of Dravid, Sachin, Ganguly, Laxman & Sehwag, we used to lose the matches because of pace bowling performances on foreign lands. Now we have the second-best fast bowling attack in the world after South Africa. We missed a spinner in the side as the pitch played bluff. Would have been better if we had played Jadeja instead of Yadav. It would have also been an added advantage in the batting department with much depth.

Poor captaincy by Kohli, wrong team selection, read the pitch incorrectly and this happened frequently this year. And even if he wanted 4 pacers, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar was a better choice. Reason is his swing bowling capacity as rest of the three can bowl fast. So Bhuvi would have given variety and he can bat as well.

Difference between two teams was their openers. 100+partnership on Day 1, gave them the upper hand in the match. There was no resistance at all from Indian tail-enders. Hanuma Vihari is a promising prospect. He has determination and patience. On the other hand, exceptional bowling by Lyon.

The main reason of India’s defeat is the constant failure of batting line-up to support exceptional bowling attack. The same has happened on all three important tours to South Africa, England and Australia.
