India’s most talented sportsperson and biggest brand, Virat Kohli has been accused of being an Anti-National.

Who would have thought it would come to this? One of India’s most popular sporting heroes has been accused of being an anti-national. The grave accusation has been made by none other than BJP MLA Panna Lal Shakya. Shakya questioned Virat Kohli’s patriotism by making a statement, “Virat earned money in India but he didn’t find any place to marry in the country. Is Hindustan untouchable?”

Shakya made the statement with relation to Virat Kohli’s lavish wedding set in Italy. Shakya made the ridiculous comments while inaugurating Skill India Center in Madhya Pradesh. He went on further to state, ‘”Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Vikramaditya, Yudhishthir got married on this land. You all must have got married here. None of us goes to a foreign country to get married, he (Virat Kohli) earned money here and spent billions there (Italy), he doesn’t have any respect for the country. This proves he is not a patriot.”

Thankfully, the good old folks, we now know as Twitterati strongly condemned Shakya’s point of view. Also, Shakya found no support from his own Party-members. Senior BJP leader – S Prakash publicly criticized Shakya for making such untoward comments that malign the Party’s name. He also added that Shakya has no business to question Virat or Anushka’s choice.

Indeed, a shameful incident considering Virat Kohli has made the nation proud at the international level several times in the past. Also, Kohli has played a key role in India’s victory at the World Cup 2011 Finals.
