After a much needed sabbatical from cricket, Indian test captain is back in the groove. He will be playing for the India A will play in the second ‘unofficial’ Test between India A and Australia A in Chennai from July 29 as practice ahead of the tour of Sri Lanka next month. Virat Kohli had requested the BCCI to select him in the A squad as a means of getting practice after a gap away from cricket.

Kohli along with several other senior players had taken a break from cricket after a non-stop schedule of almost a year. He not part of the Indian team that played three ODIs and two Twenty20 internationals in Zimbabwe recently. The BCCI rested most of the first-choice players and Ajinkya Rahane lead the Indian squad in the meanwhile.

Former Test captain Sunil Gavaskar welcomed Kohli’s decision to play for India A.

He needs time in the middle and if he can get a big score, it will be good for him ahead of the Sri Lanka series,

The Indian test captain was spotted spending time on an African safari and the attended Wimbledon with Anushka and was seen sitting alongside Sachin Tendulkar earlier this month. Virat kolhi is now back in serious mode and will be playing under the captaincy of Cheteshwar Pujara in Chennai starting July 29th.
