Virat Kohli is the new king on social media as the Test team captain has overtaken two of the most popular Indian sports persons, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and ODI captain MS Dhoni.

Kohli, who uses @imVkohli handle on twitter, crossed the eight-million-follower mark on the micro-blog website, whereas Tendulkar, one of the greatest cricketers of all time, currently has 7.73 million followers while MS Dhoni is yet to touch five million.

The 26-year-old batsman, who recently enjoyed his first Test series win as captain after leading India to a 2-1 victory over Sri Lanka, saw his following on Twitter grow to 8.01 million and was quick to acknowledge the love of his fans.
