Today, the Supreme Court decided to review its previous hearing on Article 377, a verdict which had earlier criminalized homosexuality.
A 3-judge bench of Supreme Court presided by the CJI will supervise the Constitutional validity of Article 377.
The decision has come on the grounds of a plea filed by members of the LGBT community. As per reports, the Apex Court has said that people who express their choice should not live in any fear.
The Supreme Court has asked for a writ petition from the five members of the LGBT Community who have expressed that they live in constant fear of the law and place for their sexual preferences and choice.
Well, that can change now if the Supreme Court decides to do away with the controversial hearing on criminalizing Gay or Lesbian Sex.
In 2017, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor requested the Indian Penal Code Bill seeking changes in section 377. However, the request was turned down in the Lok Sabha.
We would certainly love to hear your views on decriminalizing homosexuality or criminalizing homosexuality.
