Priya Prakash Warrier has become the nation’s darling within a span of 24 hours. Her song and her winking-expression has caught the nation’s fancy. From a few hundred followers to lakhs and counting; Priya Prakash has created a history of sorts.
However, it feels like the song hasn’t gone down with few people. Hyderabad based Jamia Nizamia has issued a fatwa against the debutant and have also asked the film’s director to chop off the song before releasing the movie in the theatre.
Fatwa has been issued after some youngsters complained that the song hurts religious sentiments of Muslims.
Apparently, the song has mention of the prophet’s wife and the lyrics haven’t gone down too well with a certain sect of Muslims.
Initially, once the complaint was lodged, the film’s crew agreed that the song would be chopped off before the release. However, now, the makers of the movie ‘Oru Aadar Love’ have put their foot down and have said that they will retain the song in the movie as the song has got a tremendous response so far.
Post Padmavati, this seems to be the latest protest that will affect the release of a movie. Is filing fatwas and creating a ruckus restricting the freedom of writers and filmmakers?
Isn’t it about time that religious outfits leave filmmakers at peace and let them do their work? Share your views in the comment section below. #BeFearless #VoiceyourOpinion
