We all have been hearing about the spate of Rohingya Muslims since the past few weeks. Thousands of Rohingya Muslims have been displaced from their homeland of Mynamar.

Constant clashes with the Mynamar police have resulted into mass-scale displacement of these poor Rohingya Muslims.

To understand the reason behind this tragedy, we need to go back in time:

WHO ARE ROHINGYA Muslims?

Rohingyas are ethnic Muslims of Myanmar living in Rakhine province in the Arakan region. Following clashes between Buddhist communities (majority) in Myanmar, a large number of the Rohingya Muslims were forced to leave their country, since the beginning of 2012.

The Govt. of Myanmar does not recognize Rohingya Muslims as their citizens. They are effectively stateless people since 1982 when Myanmar passed a new citizenship law.

Recent reports suggest that hundreds of Rohingya Muslims have been burned alive and killed mercilessly by the ruthless Mynamar army.

The Rohingya muslims are now fleeing to Bangladesh in wooden boats to escape persecution. This is how they got the moniker of the boat people.

Experts worry that violence that has until now been largely confined to the Rohingya-majority northern part of Rakhine, bordering Bangladesh, could erupt anytime soon, in an area where the two communities live side-by-side in much larger numbers.

No value for Human Life

More than 87,000 Rohingya have fled to Bangladesh since Rohingya insurgents killed nine police in northwest Rakhine in October. This prompted immediate military crackdown beset by allegations of rape, killings and arson by the security forces.

As per first-hand accounts, Rohingya Muslims are forced to shell anywhere between 12,000 Bangladeshi taka ($186) to be smuggled to Bangaldesh via wooden boats.

India’s contribution in the displacement of Rohingyas

As per historic records, the Rohingyas find their roots in Mynamar and have been living there for over a century. However, Rohingya migrants have found refuge in Indian states such as J&K, and many other North-Eastern states of India.

However, India recently deported around 40,000 illegal Rohingya Muslims owing to mounting pressure from other legal, authorised Indian citizens.

Lakhs of Rohingya Muslims are dying every day. Where is the Human Rights Commission?

Till now, no one has come in support of Rohingya Muslims except the Pope and terrorist organizations.

Over the weekend, Pope Francis spoke about the persecution of the Rohingya Muslims in Burma (also known as Myanmar). Pope Francis is also planning a visit to Burma later this year to address the worsening situation of the Rohingya Muslims.

On the other hand, Yemini Al Qaeda leader has called for attacks in support of the Rohingya Muslims.

The Rohingya Muslims lives of no value to the west and that is the primary reason why a Superpower such as United States has not openly come in support of the Rohingya Muslims.

We would love to hear your opinion on this mass genocide. Don’t you feel the concerned nations should take a concrete step to help the stateless people?
